Around 110 pupils currently attend our secondary school, where they are taught in mixed year groups as in the primary and orientation levels. All learning groups are taught in team teaching by a dedicated team of learning guides.
Individual learning and holistic education take time. For this reason, the Bilingual Montessori School is run as a compulsory all-day school. Our school is open daily from 7:30 am, with compulsory lessons ending at 3:00 pm. In addition, we offer attractive afternoon activities on four days until 4:45 pm. These take place across classes and ages, thus supporting social contacts, ensuring a good school atmosphere and a stronger identification with one's own school. The activities vary each term. While the grades 4-6 are still generously equipped with Montessori materials, in the secondary level - as the abilities and skills of the pupils grow - we rely on an increasingly abstract way of working, with representational understanding taking a back seat.
In the learning groups in grades 7-10, the proportion of free work decreases in favor of subject-specific lessons with study phases. In these study phases, the pupils apply the learning skills they have acquired in levels 1-3 and 4-6 as part of free work.
From grade 7 onwards, students work in experiential fields outside of school - our extracurricular learning locations - based on the Erdkinderplan according to Maria Montessori. In addition to academic content, the main focus here is on teaching the social skills of the professional world: Teamwork and motivation, perseverance and assertiveness, respect and rules of conduct play a major role here.
